Deep in the bayous of Louisiana exists a unique place. It’s not a city or a town, but a slight stretch of land known as Little Chenier. Here, family and land are the basic necessities of living a good life. Beaux Dupuis and his mentally challenged brother, Pemon, live a simple life on a houseboat until Pemon is accused of a crime and Beaux resolves to protect his brother against all odds. Never has the Cajun life been captured so realistically and naturally. Featuring stunning cinematography, Little Chenier captures the sights and sounds of the bayou, an environment unlike any other in America.

Bethany and Jace,
Thanks for making such a beautiful movie. You captured the magic of the Louisiana. Good luck with your next screening. You inspired a fellow Louisiana writer. Wishing you all the best in Los Angeles. Hoping our creative paths cross again. I'm heading home. I'll be thinking of y'all as I drive across the TX-LA border. Enjoy the rest of the fest. Le Bon Temp Roule! I hope you bring the film back home for a screening.

A Cajun Story
I’m pleased to announce that at least three of our stars, Emmy nominated CLIFTON COLLINS, Jr. (Capote, Traffic, Tigerland), JOHNATHON SCHAECH (That Thing You Do, Houdini, How to Make an American Quilt), and FRED KOEHLER (Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood)) will be in attendance for the Austin Film Festival. CHRIS MULKEY (North Country, Broken Trail, Twin Peaks ), TAMARA BRAUN, and JEREMY DAVIDSON, along with several other stars from our film, are working hard to clear their schedules and make the event as well.
LITTLE CHENIER was shot in a region of Louisiana about five hours Southeast of Austin. This region was completely destroyed by Hurricane Rita just 31 days after filming principal photography. Most of the Cajuns that opened up their lives to us during production have absolutely nothing now. Due to the relatively close proximity of Austin to Southwest Louisiana, several of these intrepid Cajuns will be in attendance. We feel there is no better place to debut our film than with our neighboring Texans. We are very excited about giving these wonderful people a break from their current reality, as they view for the first time our dedication to the magnificence of their culture. Given that Hurricane Rita victims have not received the aide or publicity of Katrina, we feel it is our duty to provide as much awareness as possible. This film is a platform for us to make the world aware of their stories, devastation, and their current need of help. Please join us in seeing this film and honoring who they are.
The rich Cajun culture of Southwest Louisiana provides our soundtrack with a plethora of authentic Cajun sounds. We are pleased to announce the soundtrack’s featured artists, and our talented Cajun friends, THE ABE MANUEL BAND, will be playing music for us during the festival. The soundtrack also features Southwest Louisiana natives LUCINDA WILLIAMS, CLIFTON CHENIER, and the ever-popular Cajun band, KINGFISH. Further contributing to the soundtrack is Texas’ very own LYLE LOVETT, and Tennessee’s THE ALLMANN BROTHERS.
Can’t wait to meet all of you next week. Austin’s one of my favorite cities. Nothing beats good music, good food, and good people.
Thanks for supporting and see ya’ll soon!
Bethany

Further developments in our actor list. Texas' own, David Born, who plays Oggie in LITTLE CHENIER, will also be in attendance. David is currently working on local Austin film, GOD THINKS YOU'RE A LOSER.
