![]() Hello from your negligent Dad! Sorry we missed all of your baseball games this summer. You mother and I still love you - we just don't love ourselves, or each other... But we hope this NEW POSTER will make up for your impending decade of therapy!! It totally lightens your teenage angst. Right?? Yeah... You like us. Thanks us for the genes later. What a year. Personal apologies for having my head out-of-sight... but Summerhood has been working for you. And working hard. We've been to 10 events and won 7 of them. That's not even logical. Not for us at least. (if you could see where we're from you say, "Hey, it smells like fish here." And you would ask for your awards back). We had private screenings at PIXAR and the Harvard Business School recently, and have met amazing filmmakers around the world. I will update you all on our truly ridiculous adventures in the weeks ahead. Our eyes are wide open... The simple truth is this: People are still making GREAT movies. I see them at every festival I go to. Thank you all for awesome movies! The distribution world however simply does not [currently] have a fantastic mechanism that enables audiences to see these films properly while helping the filmmakers pay off debts; and make new awesome films. That model is coming. And soon. For our part in this unarmed conflict, we have been brainstorming here to generate some wild models. We are suddenly very excited about the current climate. At an easy glance one might comment that the world of independent theatrical distribution is at end; collapsing. We feel otherwise... We feel very strongly that power is actually being offered back to the people, and with Summerhood we intend to make a difference that could potentially help independent filmmakers everywhere. Indefinitely. Stay tuned. Summerhood is about to do some redecorating on old economic strategies. We're gonna cut up the curtains and make a Prom dress. Save us a dance. ...And if you like, you can probably grab our butts when the music starts. I'm starting a rumor that we're easy. Jacob.
