The romanticized idea of heroism is confronted with the harshness of the African desert, complicated relationships and constant threat of death in this updated version of Stephen Crane’s classic novel “The Red Badge of Courage.” Set in North Africa during WWII, Tobruk captures the horrors of war which lead to the loss of friends, innocence and more often than not, self respect.

Beautifully photographed story on the horrors and boredom of war. This is a powerful story new to me about Czech troops fighting the Axis in WW II in Africa. Excellent acting by all. Well-paced and entertaining.
