Louder Than a Bomb chronicles the emotional journeys of four high school slam poetry teams competing in the largest slam poetry competition in Chicago. Although they hail from different backgrounds, they pour their souls out in their poetry. By turns hopeful and heartbreaking, the film captures the tempestuous lives of these unforgettable kids, exploring the ways writing shapes their world, and the ways writing helps them make sense of the flux change of their teen years. While the topics they tackle are often deeply personal, what they put into their poems and what they get out of them is universal: the defining work of finding one’s voice. Louder Than a Bomb leaves audiences enthralled by the lives of these teens and inspired to create, as the teens show their passion on screen.
